MOVIE MADNESS

Party Monster

Kill Bill

McCauley Culkin is back!  And he's naked this time around!  I've been waiting for this movie since the trailer showed up online. I finally got to see it last Monday at the Deep Ellum Film Fest.  It was a very interesting movie.  The basic plot focuses on Michael (Culkin), a little country boy, who moves to New York City.  He admires the biggest party planner in the city, James St. James (who is the author of the book that this movie was adapted from).  Michael learns all the tricks from James and becomes the most famous person in the New York City area for his outrageous parties.  He turns Limelight into the biggest club in New York and his gang is called the Club Kids.  When the Limelight got shut down, that's when Michael's life started going downhill.  I won't spoil the ending for all of you, although I already did for Jaden.  But this movie is quiet interesting to watch.  I didn't particularly like the directing or acting since they are just so-so.  But the whole movie concept was good.  It actually made me laugh at a lot of points.  I would say go see it if you have no other movie to see.

Tarentino! Wow, haven't heard from him for awhile eh?   Cheesy soundtrack and scores, fake blood, violence, and true beauty of black comedy.  That's Tarentino.  This is definitely a Tarentino movie.  The fighting was amazing and amusing.  Especially the big fight scene where Uma Thurman sliced and diced.  It's mean to laugh at people's misfortune, but it was amazingly funny.  The fight scene between Uma and her former co-workers was amazing and well choreorgraphedl.  My favorite scene was actually the fight sequence between Vivica A. Fox and Uma at the beginning of the film.  The hospital part was quite disturbing if you actually think about it.  It's like, could that happen to me? *shudders* This movie does requires a unique taste in movies to actually enjoy it.  If you don't like violenc and over the top gore, then don't go see it.  If you do, then go have a field day with Kill Bill.

Jaden's Two Cents: At the insistance of ,u friend Toren, I decided to cave and see this movie. IT was good, not great, but good. The gore was over the top and plain stupid at times. The action was really good, and Uma Thurman is badass. Daryll Hanna bugged the hell out of me with that whistling. Vivica A. Fox wasn't much lol. Lucy Liu.. well was Lucy Liu. Well, anyway.. It's not for the queezy or weak at heart, but I liked it, and I'll see part 2 when it comes out in February.

The Human Stain

Scary Movie 3

Yes, Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins.  You know what that means?  Oscar.  On top of that, Robert Benton, three time Oscar winner who directed Kramer Vs. Kramer, directed this.  This definitely has some Oscar buzz.  Nicole Kidman's performance was stunning and amazing.  Anthony's was subtle and good as well.  There wasn't really that much of story plot or climax.  The movie was pretty subtle until the end, but it also makes the conflicts much stronger and creates much more impact on audience.  One of the biggest secrets is revealed toward the end, but it was ruined for me beforehand. (It had been revealed by the critics way before I saw the movie).  This movie was really good, but not for everyone again.  All the action buffs, who just want to see bang bang boom, then you really shouldn't go see this.  But if you want to see a movie with good directing and acting, then its a must see.  But it is in limited release right now, so you might have to try hard to find it.

WARNING:  You will see Nicole Kidman and Anthony getting it on.  That is quite disturbing. =P

Bad! BAD! BAD!!!!  I can't believe I paid for this movie and actually stayed through it.  It wasn't as bad as the second one.  The first one is just a classic now, but this one isn't all that good.  I laughed probably 4 times during this movie.  I laughed more during The Ring than this!  The jokes went overboard and a lot of them are not funny.  The funny parts are all in the preview.  There are also parts that are in the preview and not in the movie.  How stupid is that?  I heard they are making a Scary Movie 4 now.  I hope it will be better.  I think they should have more Leslie Neilson in there, since he's quite funny.

WARNING:  Choose the right crowd to see this.  I had the worst movie crowd.

Grade:  C

Jaden's Two Cents: I saw Scary Movie 3 the day it was released. It was.. umm funny at times.. lame at others. I just dont get why 8 Mile was parodied in a movie spoofing SCARY MOVIES. IT was a lot better than part 2, but not even close to part 1. The jokes are forced, and try way too hard at times. It's a popcorn flick at best.. and fear not mediocre spoof fans... Scary Movie 4 is on it's way to a theater near you next year. UGH

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

Jaden's Review:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. What you are about to read is based on a true story.. errrr... Yeah. This is about as based on a true story as Psycho and Silence Of The Lambs. Y'all are prolly like wtf. Yes, TCM is based partly on a true story. A serial killer that used to sew skin, wear the skin etc. But Silence of the Lambs was based on the same killer. as was Psycho. I don't get the Psycho thing, but Silence of the Lambs was once again about skinning.. *shudders* Anyway *SMACK* FUCK YOU spider!! Okay sorry, like I was saying.. the movie is good, creepy, not really that gorey considering the weapon of choice is a chainsaw, but it has it's moments. Usually I want the people to just die cuz they suck.. but I actually was rooting for Jessica Biel. I won't say if she dies or not cuz not everyone has seen it and I don't want to spoil it. Anyway, I give it 3 *vroom vrooms* up. (So sue me I can't imitate a chainsaw in words)

Gus Van Sant's new release.  Winner of Palm d'Or and best director in Cannes Film Festival.  I've been waiting for this movie for at least for 6 months now, it shall be seen by next Friday.         The Revolution starts on Wed, 11/5.  Didn't like the 2nd one, Matrix: Reloaded.  Maybe I'll like this one, who knows.  We'll see.
